Labyrinth of the
Unseen World

Amélie Ravalec &
Paul Michael Henry

Labyrinth of the Unseen World is a new dance-theatre and film work created by filmmaker and artist Amélie Ravalec and dancer/performance artist Paul Michael Henry. Combining live Butoh dance, film, music, sound design, video art, poetry and vocal narrative, the work invites audiences into a labyrinth of fragmented memories and fractured identities.

At its heart lies a reflection of our historical crossroads: a burning planet haunted by a collective amnesia, where identities blur and truth lies fractured. But if we can piece together the shards of the broken mirror, perhaps we can rediscover why we are here, and what must be done to find a way forward.

“An ecosystem of unsettling beauty, a haunting meditation on fractured truth and blurred identities, Labyrinth of the Unseen World is fractured nature of truth, complexity of individual and human psychological and physical survival in entropic universe.”

– Creatrix Mag

Eschewing a conventional film narrative, Labyrinth of the Unseen World fuses visual poetry with dance performance, creating a hallucinatory, disturbing, yet beautiful dreamscape. There is nothing as prosaic as dystopia sci-fi here; rather, the film seeks to interrogate human consciousness itself.

– Fjord Magazine

Labyrinth of the Unseen World is fascinating, as original and assured as everything I have seen from Amélie Ravalec.”

– Pierre Jamin (L’Étrange Festival, Paris)
